Dress Code
The purpose of the dress code is to:
- foster a positive identity for the school in the community
- support safety through the easy identification of students
- ensure safe and acceptable standards of dress for all students
- promote a sense of belonging and inclusion for all students
- to build pride in the school
The uniform is designed to be unisex and easy care. The Coominya State School Parents and Citizens Association strongly encourages the wearing of school uniform by all students.

Sun Safety Strategy
Hats
The wearing of an appropriate hat is required for sun-safety. Either a wide brimmed or bucket hat is required whilst playing outdoors. Caps are NOT permitted for reasons of sun safety. For the sake of their long-term health, children without suitable headwear will be re-directed off the playground and playground equipment. The school rule in relation to hats is:

Playground
Areas of shade, including trees are provided throughout the grounds for children to sit or play under.
The library is open as an alternate ‘play place’ during second break.
On very hot days, classrooms are opened up during breaks, to allow more children to stay inside.
Classroom
Children are permitted to bring containers (containing water only) into classrooms, to drink during the day.
Attendance
Each parent of a child who is of compulsory school age has the legal obligation to ensure their child is enrolled and attends a school, on every school day for the educational program in which the child is enrolled, unless the parent has a reasonable excuse.
A child should be enrolled in and attend school from the beginning of the school year in the year that they turn compulsory school age (six years and six months).
Each parent of a young person in the compulsory participation phase has the legal obligation to ensure that the young person is participating full-time in an eligible option, unless the parent has a reasonable excuse.
